Don’t have a Big Green Egg? Don’t stop reading now, this summer you have a chance to win one from DSLD Homes. We are giving away EIGHT Big Green Eggs throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Alabama. But first, check out our five easy steps on how to use your Big Green Egg and take your grilling up a notch!
1. Getting Started
First things first, make sure the lid and vents are open, and then light the charcoal. If you’re one of our lucky winners, you will receive the Big Green Egg’s fire starters as well as 100% natural lump charcoal. You will no longer need lighter fluid! Wait at least 10 minutes before closing the lid, and your Big Green Egg heats up in no time! Now you are ready to grill, smoke, or bake on your egg. Make sure you don’t open the lid suddenly. Instead, ease into opening it. Check to see if not all, then most of the coals are lit.
2. Maintain the Perfect Temperature
Notice how you have control of making the temperature as high as 700 degrees and as low as 400 degrees. To increase the temperature all you need to do is create air circulation by opening the top and bottom vent. To decrease the temperature, just simply close the air vents. As far as the lid, it is suggested to keep it closed while cooking.
3. Let's Get Grilling
Whether you are in charge of cooking steaks, burgers, or fish the Big Green Egg will deliver perfect results. Before you place food on top of the grill, be sure it is heated and ready to go. One of the keys to grilling is to keep the lid closed the majority of the time while periodically flipping. Be sure not to cook too much at one time.
4. Smoking
If you’re one of our lucky winners, your package will include a convEGGtor as well! Unlike grilling, smoking does not require high temperatures. To keep a low temperature of around 200 degrees, this is where your convEGGtor comes in handy! The vents should be adjusted to control the temperature just like they are when grilling.
5. Turn Your Egg Into an Oven
Not in the mood for a barbeque? Use your egg as an oven and get to baking! Not only can you use the convEGGtor for smoking, but baking as well. Follow the typical steps to get your egg heated. As far as the temperature, keep the egg at around 450 degrees with the vent open.
