From Floor Plan to Front Door: DSLD Homes’ 12-Step Path to Homeownership
Buying a new construction home can feel like a big undertaking, but at DSLD Homes, we make the journey simple, exciting, and stress-free. Our 12-step process is designed to guide you from start to finish, making sure you always know what’s happening and what to expect next.
Here’s what your path to homeownership looks like with DSLD:
1. Select Your Floor Plan & Lot
Your journey begins with a visit to one of our beautiful new home communities. Explore floor plans, tour available homesites, and work closely with a Builder Sales Representative to choose the perfect combination for your lifestyle and needs.
2. Get Pre-Qualified for a Mortgage
We’ve made financing easy with DSLD Mortgage, our in-house lender. Apply online or in person to get pre-qualified quickly. This step ensures you're confident in your budget before moving forward.
3. Sign a Purchase Agreement
Once your lot and floor plan are finalized, your Builder Sales Representative will walk you through signing the purchase agreement, officially securing your future home.
4. Personalize Your Home with Color & Option Selections
Now it’s time to make your home truly yours! From flooring and cabinets to paint colors and finishes, you’ll choose design selections that reflect your personal style.
5. Breaking Ground on Your New Home
Construction begins! DSLD obtains all necessary permits and prepares your lot for building. You’ll be kept in the loop with regular updates so you can watch your home come to life.
6. Framing Begins
This is one of the most exciting milestones! You’ll see your home take shape from the ground up. During this phase, your estimated closing date is also confirmed.
7. Weekly Progress Reports Begin
Stay connected with weekly photo and video updates from your Builder Sales Representative. You'll always know what’s happening on-site, even if you’re miles away.
8. Construction Progress Continues
As construction moves forward, you’ll receive ongoing updates on each stage, from sheetrock and top out to flooring, trim, and more.
9. Prepare for Closing
As your home nears completion, it’s time to finalize the financing. With your mortgage approved, our DSLD Closing Coordinator will guide you through the final paperwork.
10. DSLD Quality Inspection
Before you move in, your home undergoes a thorough 1,000-point inspection to ensure it meets DSLD’s high standards for quality and functionality.
11. First Walk & Sign-Off
You’ll take part in a 2-hour orientation to explore your finished home, learn about your smart home and energy-efficient features, and ask any final questions.
12. Closing & Move-In Day
It’s official, you’re a homeowner! After closing, we’ll conduct follow-up inspections to ensure everything is perfect. And if anything comes up later, our Customer Care team is always here to help.
